VIDEO: USA Network “Character Approved” Awards

The Character Approved Awards honor the characters of the U.S.A. who are changing the face of American culture. Character Approved honorees are innovators in their field who influence our opinions, our style, and our view of the world. They surprise and inspire us with fresh ideas. They are celebrated by their peers. And they have an authentic style that’s all their own.
USA Network has announced the winners of the first-ever Character Approved Awards to honor individuals from a cross-section of creative disciplines who are positively influencing American culture. Each honoree will be bestowed the official “Character” award, designed by renowned sculptor Bruce Gray, as well as a $10,000 honorarium that will be donated to the charity of his/her choice.
The winners are Shepard Fairey, Lupe Fiasco, Charles Best, David Chang, Jennifer Siegel, Jimmy Wales and Patrick Robinson.
“The 2009 Character Approved honorees represent the type of characters we not only admire and wish we could imitate, but also want to know,” said Chris McCumber, executive vice president, marketing, digital and brand strategy. “Each of the recipients is a pioneer in his or her own field, lauded by their peers and in our opinion worthy of the Character Seal of Approval. We are honored to celebrate them in this way.”
